Kips Bay Marketing on Manhattan's Hospital Row

First Avenue between East 23rd and East 34th Streets is often called Hospital Row. NYU Langone's main campus, Bellevue Hospital and the Manhattan campus of the VA NY Harbor Healthcare System sit within a few blocks of one another, along with NYU's dental school on East 24th Street. That concentration brings a huge workforce of doctors, nurses, residents and students, plus patients and visiting families from across the region.

For private practices, being near the hospitals is a referral advantage and a competitive problem at once, since specialists affiliated with the big systems list offices here too. Physical therapy, imaging, pharmacy and medical supply businesses do well when their listings name the hospital they are near. Second and Third Avenues carry the restaurants and errands, and Lexington Avenue in the upper 20s, known as Curry Hill for its Indian restaurants and grocers, runs along the western edge.
